The type of material that activewear is mainly composed of is important. It depends on your activity. Yoga, HIIT, weight training, running, biking all call for different gear. Of course you can wear the same thing in all activities and be just fine but for the "best" performance, let's look at a few details below.
If there will be lots of sweat, try to avoid cotton. Ie, HIIT, spin class, etc, where you will be dripping beads non-stop. Cotton doesn’t hold sweat well and can become really heavy to wear and make you feel damp and unattractive. It also takes ages to dry.
Synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon or lycra are great for activewear as they wick away sweat well. This means you feel cooler and more comfortable during your workout. Most all of our athleisure wear is made from these materials, therefore, giving you a greater chance of not being a walking sweat rag.
You might think there is no harm in wearing your regular T-shirt to the gym. However, it’s important that you choose moisture-wicking fabrics. Clothes that don’t dry out quickly are unhygienic and can cause some severe body odor problems at the gym. Polyester, nylon and some cottons specifically woven for active wear, are some popular fabrics recommended for activewear.
Always go for soft materials that are stretchable. If there is a little bit of Spandex in the construction of the garment it will be very flexible and will move with you. Our brand uses fabrics that are breathable and fast moving.
